Three New Chemical Tankers for Lomar
Lomar, the shipping arm of Libra Group, has acquired three 13,000 dwt chemical tankers from Hellespont Ship Management. The Hellespont Credo, Hellespont Creation and Hellespont Chivalry were built between 2006 and 2007, and their addition to the Lomar fleet takes it to 40 ships in total.
Lomar sold almost its entire fleet between 2004 and 2007. In late 2009, the company re-invested in shipping at scale with the US$325m acquisition of the Allocean fleet of 26 vessels and has been acquiring new ships at regular intervals since then.
“These three chemical tankers will boost our current fleet and meet the demand in global shipping trades,” comments Achim Boehme, CEO of Lomar.
