Lomar adds another five container vessels to fleet
Lomar has announced the addition of a further five container vessels to its fleet bringing the total container fleet to 53 and the overall Lomar fleet to almost 80 ships.
The latest additions include the Los Angeles Trader and the Long Beach Trader, both 2007 CSBC-built post panamax container vessels. At 6,000 TEU they become the largest ships in the Lomar container fleet.
This follows the recent acquisition of the Cape Maas and Cape Madrid, both 2011 Wenchong-built 2,800 TEU gearless container vessels.
Lomar has also announced that in recent weeks it has acquired the 2001 Polish-built 1730 TEU geared container vessel, Marie Schulte.
Commenting on the latest newcomers to the fleet, Lomar CEO Achim Boehme stated: “In recent years our acquisition strategy for both new and second-hand container ships demonstrates our long term confidence in the underlying strength of this sector. There are now many market indicators that suggest that recent signs of recovery among this class of vessels will be sustained.”
