Greenwood Energy and the Arhuaco People Officialize the Terrʌ Initiʌtive Framework Agreement in Nabusimake with Strategic Allies
Libra Group’s Latin American renewable energy subsidiary advances the TERRɅ INITIɅTIVE, a utility-scale solar project in collaboration with the Arhuaco People, by officially signing a Framework Agreement in Nabusimake, Colombia.
[July 3, 2024] – Libra Group’s Latin American renewable energy subsidiary, Greenwood Energy, signed the first annex of the first phase of the TERRɅ INITIɅTIVE, TERRɅ Site I. This phase will be carried out on a 236-hectare property in El Copey, Cesar, involving the construction of 52 MWp solar plants and an indigenous village. Future phases will see the completion of over 100 MW of solar capacity and the establishment of two additional villages.
Once completed, this partnership will usher in a new era of sustainable development, delivering:
Clean energy to the region
Support for the construction of 160 MWp solar plants and three new indigenous villages
Job creation and economic reinforcement for the Arhuaco community
Reforestation of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, one of the world’s most valuable natural reserves
Greenwood Energy also hosted an Indigenous officialization summit in the ancestral capital of the Arhuacos. The summit brought together over 250 community leaders, corporate partners, and public entities. Through traditional ceremonies, guided tours, and cultural exchanges, participants gained valuable insights into the rich heritage of the Arhuaco People.
