Emmy Nomination
Shankly Productions is nominated for an Emmy Award for its TV series First Ascent in the ‘Best Camerawork, Sports’ category. The series which profiles extreme adventure athletes aired on the Travel Channel in the U.S. and on National Geographic throughout the world.
The series, co-produced by National Geographic International, has now sold in over one hundred countries including Asia, Latin America and the Middle East on National Geographic’s Adventure Channel.
“We couldn’t be happier with the success of ‘First Ascent'”, said Leon Logothetis, CEO of Shankly International Distribution. “We knew buyers would spark to the series, but 100 countries is beyond our wildest expectations. The Emmy nomination endorses the all-round quality of this production.”
“First Ascent” captures all the excitement and adrenaline as expert mountaineers push their vertical skills to the limit. The climbers tackle some incredible feats such as walking tightropes across rock spires, BASE jumping off impenetrable peaks, and dangling thousands of feet off the ground without a rope or safety harness.
The series was produced by National Geographic International, and Peter Mortimer and Nick Rosen of Sender Films. Executive Producers were Leon Logothetis and David E. Brenner.
