Mauna Lani, Auberge Resorts Collection will welcome guests to Hawaii’s Kohala Coast in January 2020
With a distinct, crafted approach to luxury and set on 32 oceanfront acres of alluring coastline marked by royal fish ponds, natural lava fields and a collection of sun-drenched beaches, Mauna Lani, Auberge Resorts Collection is setting the stage for a completely reimagined and customized experience to be unveiled in January 2020.
Destined to take its place as Hawaii’s best-loved resort, Mauna Lani is now accepting reservations to welcome guests to an authentic, yet newly redesigned resort. Mauna Lani’s dramatic natural setting, its abundance of cultural experiences and active pursuits will offer guests immersion into Hawaiian traditions and the unparalleled beauty of The Island of Hawaii.
“True luxury is found in the details,” said Vice President and General Manager Sanjiv Hulugalle. “At Mauna Lani, our goal is to surpass our guests’ expectations and indulge them with moments of delight throughout their stay, making every visit here the trip of a lifetime.” Adding, “Our team is honored to reintroduce this extraordinary resort here at Kalāhuipua‘a along the Kohala Coast. As the first Auberge Resorts Collection property in Hawaii, Mauna Lani is experiencing overwhelming interest for reservations, and we are delighted to begin confirming visits for January 2020.”
Mauna Lani, meaning “mountain reaching heaven” in Hawaiian, is deeply rooted in rich cultural traditions that inspire every facet of the guest experience. Following an extensive year-long renovation, Mauna Lani will unveil 333 contemporary guest rooms, suites and private bungalow residences, three distinct swimming pools – resort, family and infinity-edge, adults-only – a signature spa and wellness haven, and interactive Holoholo Kids Crew, all complemented by Auberge’s intuitive and gracious service.
Mauna Lani will include five extraordinary restaurants and lounges, each with an emphasis on seasonality and sustainability guided by Hawaii Island’s natural setting and in collaboration with local farmers and fishermen. Highlights include Mauna Lani’s iconic beachfront restaurant Canoe House, which will continue to celebrate Hawaii’s connection to the land and sea. From sunrise to sunset, HaLani, meaning of “breath of heaven” in Hawaiian, will serve as the resort’s stylish open-air eatery, well-appointed alongside the pool and expansive lawn overlooking the Pacific Ocean. During the day, HaLani will offer a casual setting for families and friends to savor breakfast and lunch together; while in the evenings, the restaurant will transform in to a modern, artisanal, coastal grille showcasing Mediterranean cuisine. Next door to HaLani will be the Market, a specialty coffee shop, cafe and New York-style deli, showcasing sustainable and local produce.
Located directly on the beach, the Surf Shack will be the resort’s ultimate toes-in-the-sand destination and the essential starting point for the day’s adventures. Reminiscent of Hawaii’s iconic surf dens, the Surf Shack will offer a casual hangout with nods of vintage surf culture woven throughout the design aesthetic and will feature light cuisine and a curated beverage selection of wine and beer on tap. From the Surf Shack, the adventure will continue outwards to the ocean and land with the Kainalu – Mauka to Makai Program. Guests of every age will enjoy snorkeling, swimming, paddleboarding lessons and outrigger canoe excursions from the resort’s beach or enjoy a coastline trek or e-bike safari. The adventures – whether ocean or land-based – will all be centered on an active, engaging and enriching journey of exploration, performance, movement and strength.
Mauna Lani will feature an Auberge Spa, a tranquil sanctuary for relaxation after an adrenaline-fueled day or a retreat for those seeking mindful practices such as yoga, meditation and healing spa rituals. The spa will feature an indoor/outdoor fitness center with state-of-the-art gym equipment, including Peloton bikes and high-performance exercise machines, with focus on empowering guests to get into the best shape of their lives through metabolic conditioning, high-intensity interval training and enhanced sports performance.
For golf enthusiasts, the resort features two acclaimed 18-hole courses, Mauna Lani North and South. Known for its lava bed terrain dotted by kiawe trees, the North Course offers the quintessential Hawai‘i golf experience. The South Course, with its stark a‘a lava setting, presents a challenging layout with holes set before mountain and ocean views.
In celebration of the resort’s opening, Mauna Lani invites travelers to be among the first to experience the reimagined property and discover new incarnation of ancient wisdom and modern luxury. To commemorate the opening, the resort is extending the Mauna Lani Journeys offer, which includes a $1,000 USD resort credit that can be applied to resort experiences, dining, spa and golf.
