Aria Hotels’ Greek Hospitality Portfolio Reaches 50 Properties in Greece
Libra Group subsidiary known for commitment to authentic Greek hospitality reaches landmark 50 properties across Greece.
[June 24, 2022, Athens, Greece]: Aria Hotels, a hospitality subsidiary of the Libra Group, a privately-owned business group whose subsidiaries own and operate assets in more than 50 countries, announced that its collection of boutique hotels and holiday villas has reached 50 properties.
Aria has curated diverse properties across Greece that are unified by a shared commitment to elevate authentic Greek hospitality. This includes retrofitting historic Greek structures, such as windmills, to creating bespoke properties that also provide cultural integrity. Properties range from family-orientated hotels in popular resorts, to restorations of grand villas steeped in history, to ‘undiscovered gems’ that are deliberately off the beaten track and offer a taste of unspoiled Greece.
Commenting on Aria’s milestone, CEO Makis Pantazatos stated, “This company was founded based on a simple idea – to define excellence in providing an experience of authentic Greek hospitality that honors and elevates Greece’s history and unique culture. This concept shapes every decision we make, from the architecture and cuisine to the experiences we offer.” Pantazatos continued, “We are proud to reach this important growth milestone, and we will continue to expand and invest in properties that allow us to aspire to be a definitive hospitality choice for a real Greek experience.”
The Aria story began in 2012 with the acquisition of The Windmill on Kimolos, and the conversion of a traditional Greek windmill dating from 1852. Today the company has grown to 50 properties, ranging from charming beach houses to boutique hotels and villas. From Kimolos, Aria continued on to Crete with diverse properties including beachfront hotels, secluded villas and wine tourism retreats. From there, it launched properties in the lush Ionian islands and in the Cyclades Islands, including Mykonos and Santorini, plus an entire self-contained Island. Aria’s collection in mainland Greece is diverse and ranges from apartments in the heart of Athens to an exclusive boutique hotel nestled in the magical network of mountains, valleys and rivers in Zagori in North West Greece.
Considered one of the jewels in Aria’s collection is the former home in the Southeast Peloponnese of the author, scholar and decorated war hero, Sir Patrick Leigh Fermor. In 1996, the house was bequeathed to the Benaki Museum as a retreat for artists and writers. Aria Hotels has been entrusted with summer hospitality management of the villa that is said to be one of the most beautiful in Greece.
Aria Hotels is one of the hospitality subsidiaries of the Libra Group, a privately-owned business group with many decades of experience in Greece. The Libra Group has numerous commercial and social responsibility initiatives in Greece.
Rosanna Mortoglou, Libra Group’s Chief Representative in Greece, stated, “We are so proud of what Aria Hotels has achieved by building a portfolio that uniquely brings to life Greece’s culture and heritage. Each property is unique, hand selected, and renovated with care and the customer’s experience in mind.” Mortoglou continued, “While ‘authenticity’ can be a cliché in the world of hospitality, Aria and its dedicated hospitality professionals are contributing to the Greek economy and shining a light on often undiscovered aspects of Greece’s culture.”
