Aria Hotels adds Scalani Hills Residences to its collection of boutique hotels and villas

Aria Hotels has added to its collection of boutique hotels and villas with the opening of Scalani Hills Residences on the Boutari Winery in Skalani Village near Heraklion City, in the heart of the Archanes wine region. Combining the rich wine-growing traditions of this part of Crete with Aria’s ethos of guest comfort and service, the three new residences address the growing demand for experiential holidays, especially wine tourism.

The Winery and three luxurious residences, created within the former estate cottage, are surrounded by seven acres of vineyards. The property has been sensitively renovated to provide luxurious accommodation while harmonizing with the surrounding area. Hotel guests can choose from Kotsifali, Malvasia or Liatiko – each residence named after local wine varieties. All rooms enjoy spectacular views of the vineyard and feature modern comforts and amenities.

Guests at Scalani Hills can enjoy unique surroundings and immerse themselves in the magical world of wine including winery tours and wine tasting. The winery also offers a special presentation hall where visitors can learn more about Cretan history through a spectacular audiovisual experience. The facility can also be booked for parties, cultural activities and corporate events.

In its 25 year history, the vineyard has created some unique Cretan wines, including Skalani and Fantaxometocho. During its first era the vineyard has focused on the Kotsifali, Syrah, Chardonnay, and Malvasia Aromatica varieties. Boutari is now embarking on a new phase of planting in which the Vidiano, Assyrtiko and Mavrotragano varieties will be added. The first full harvest following the replanting is expected within four years.

The resident oenologist, Mrs. Vivi Papaspirou, offers wine tasting courses while the cook, Mrs. Maria Konstantaki, offers cookery workshops based on Cretan cuisine, famous all over the world for its beneficial qualities. The location of Scalani Hills Residences is ideal for lovers of history and culture: just four km. away, the archaeological site of Knossos offers insight into the rich history of the Minoan civilization.
