Dr. Gunter Dunkel

Dr. Gunter Dunkel was appointed to Libra Group’s Global Advisory Board in January 2023. Dr. Dunkel is currently Non Executive Chairman-European Private Debt of Muzinich&Co as well as a member of the Supervisory Board of Continental AG since 2009. In this role, he advises on the company’s material decisions around strategy, business development, risk management and compliance.

Dr. Dunkel was previously a member of the Board of the Association of Public Sector Banks, where he served as President of the Board from 2012-2016. Prior to this, Dr. Dunkel served as a Member of the Board of Management, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Management, and then Chairman of the Board of Management at Norddeutsche Landesbank. Dr. Dunkel also held several roles at Bayerische Hypotheken-und Wechsel-Bank AG in Munich, including Head of Implementation of Corporate Strategy and Head of Corporate and Financial Institutions – as well as his prior roles in strategic management at McKinsey & Company, and in the credit division at GiroCredit Vienna (today UniCredit/Bank Austria).

A native of Waiblingen, Germany, Dr. Dunkel attended Vienna University of Economics and Business and the University of Vienna earning a Master and Doctorate in Social and Economic Sciences as well as a Master of Law. Additionally, he serves on various governing bodies and committees of charitable institutions, such as presiding as President of ‘Stiftung Niedersachsen,’ a cultural foundation in Hannover.
