Aria Hotels’ ‘The Island Concept’ completes construction phase and schedules opening date of 1 July 2020

Subject to the relaxation of COVID-19 restrictions, Aria Hotels is on schedule to open its latest hotel, The Island Concept at Agios Nikolaos, Crete on 1 July. The current lockdown has had only minimal disruption to the finishing touches of the hotel development by Mirum Hellas (www.mirum.gr). Aria’s management is in the final stages of recruiting team members for every aspect of the hotel’s operations: from food and beverage, to spa and wellness, to maintenance.

The hotel complex comprises rooms and suites, many with private pools, a restaurant and bar, a main pool, as well as a spa complex with all modern comforts. The style and layout of this exclusive hotel makes it ideal for couples: it is discreet and self-contained on a small peninsula with spectacular views over the Aegean Sea. It also features a private beach.

The notion behind The Island Concept is the uniqueness of the Greek islands and the history that lies behind them. Each of the hotel’s 15 rooms and suites is inspired by an island, communicating its own unique narrative and welcoming visitors with special decorative touches.

Commenting on the opening schedule for The Island Concept, Aria Hotels’ CEO, Makis Pantazatos stated, “Guest safety remains our primary concern so we shall of course keep the opening schedule under constant review and will comply fully with any government sanctions and travel industry guidelines in the ongoing fight against COVID-19. We are however encouraged by booking volumes during the summer period across all our properties – clearly our guests are anticipating life beyond lockdown and don’t want to place their lives on hold.

“For any guests prevented from proceeding with their vacation at this difficult time, we are trying to be as flexible as possible, and will keep reservations open for two years and valid for any hotel in the Aria collection.”

The Island Concept is Aria Hotels’ first green field hotel development since its foundation in 2010. Hotels and residences in the collection to date have typically been sympathetic conversions of period buildings on the Greek mainland and islands.
