Grace Hotels announces opening of The Mayflower Grace
Grace Hotels has announced the official opening of its second property in the United States, The Mayflower Grace. Located in the idyllic town of Washington in Connecticut, The Mayflower Grace is an exquisite country retreat, discretely nestled in 58 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens and woodland.
The 30-room hotel, previously known as the Mayflower Inn & Spa, was acquired by Grace Hotels in 2013. Just two hours’ drive from New York City, it is renowned as one of northeast America’s most distinguished luxury hideaways. In recent months it has undergone extensive refurbishment, including the creation of a new fine dining restaurant ‘Muse by Jonathan Cartwright’. Conceived by Group Chef de Cuisine and Grand Chef Relais & Châteaux Jonathan Cartwright, it follows the success of Muse at sister property The Vanderbilt Grace in Newport, Rhode Island, showcasing modern European cuisine and incorporating the best of local and seasonal produce for the ultimate gastronomic experience.
The Mayflower Grace provides the perfect escape where guests can enjoy tailored spa treatments at the award-winning 20,000 sq ft spa, recognised by many as one of the finest in North America. A host of expertly-led complimentary fitness and relaxation classes may be combined with guided hikes along nearby nature trails, fly-fishing and kayaking in summer or snow-shoeing and cross-country skiing during winter. The hotel holds the rare accolade of both the Forbes five star and AAA five diamond status and has retained its affiliation to the Relais & Châteaux association of world’s finest hoteliers, chefs and restaurateurs.
Philippe Requin, CEO of Grace Hotels, said: “We are proud to officially welcome The Mayflower Grace to our family of boutique hotels. We look forward to welcoming the Mayflower’s many loyal guests back to the hotel as well as fans of Grace Hotels, and hope that they enjoy the Grace touches that we have introduced. This also signifies part of a very exciting expansion for us in New England, in advance of our next opening, The White Barn Grace, in Kennebunkport, Maine.”
